Apples Anyone?

The trees at the old farm are loaded, and I mean loaded with apples.  With a new spraying regime this year, they are nearly perfect.  This is particularly nice because it means no suprise worms that have to be cut out when making applesauce.

Golden Delicious (my favorite!) and Jonathan's

Yep, that's right, Apple Day has arrived!  More pictures of that later.  For now, don't these just make your mouth water?  We'll be enjoying apples crisp, apple sauce, apples with peanut butter, and apples with caramel and peanuts for the next few weeks.

I can just feel fall arriving!

  1. They look great! I don't think I've ever been around when the trees were yielding. Surprise worms are very low on the list of favorite surprises, for sure. Do you find these Golden Delicious to be better than the store-bought kind? I've always thought they were a little dull.

  2. I actually love the Goldens for just eating. They were super sweet this year, maybe sweeter then normal. We ate them until we dropped! The yields were unreal. The trees were sagging to the ground, and the apples were the biggest I have seen from the farm. The applesauce is just wonerful throughout the winter! A funny apple fact: they are Jordan's pregnancy food craving, so we have applesauce on hand whenever she is here :-)
