Breakfast Poppers

I love breakfast, but never manage to eat it before about 9:30.  I always find myself running out the door and need something quick to grab, which often results in a lot of sugar and carbs (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Last week I decided to experiment with these little egg poppers, and they turned out great!

Ingredients:
8 large eggs
a dash of milk (maybe a couple tablespoons)
1 c. chopped spinash (I used fresh)
1/4 finely chopped onion
salt and pepper to taste

Beat eggs and milk together.  Add chopped veggies and seasonings to taste.  Poor into greased mini muffin tins, and bake at 350 until the eggs are set.  I think it took about 15 minutes for mine.

Allow to cool.  The poppers can be stored in the refrigerator, or frozen.  We love keeping these in the freezer and warming them in the microwave for a quick, easy, and healthy breakfast.

You could add all sorts of fun ingredients to your poppers.  I think that I may have to try some tomorrow with cheese and shredded zucchini from the garden.

Enjoy!

Crayon Rolls

How do you entertain two busy little ones under the age of 4 in an instant?

Crayons of course!

I whipped up 2 of these darling crayon rolls for a recent drive to the lake.  I was able to score two great big white notepads at Target for $.99/each to go along with them.  It was such great entertainment in the car!

They were perfect to stash in my purse and carry along as we went on our adventures to local restaurants too.

What a perfect gift for birthdays, favors, big siblings, and more!

Oh, and I'm a bit obsessed with putting the crayons in ROYGBIV order.  Hillbilly says this makes me a little crazy or at least OCD.  I actually store most of my fabric this way too.  Hmmmm...

Another Reason to Love Ty

You probably already love Ty Pennington.  He hosts one of the most heartwarming shows on television, and he's pretty easy on the eyes.

Did you know he designs fabric too?

I was so excited when my very fashionable friend Mita chose his fabrics for two custom handbags!

Aren't they terrific?  The pattern is from Amy Butler's Style Stitches.  It's definitely not what I would call a beginner pattern, but all the hard work that goes into each bag is so worth it!

Back to School - Bleach Pen Project

I picked this up at the store a while back and have been waiting for the right crafty night to try it out.

Clorox® Bleach® Pen Gel

I cannot believe that it didn't break into this bleach pen sooner!  First, it's perfect for all of The Bug's stained t-shirts.  Just color over the stain with your bleach pen, allow it to sit for a couple of minutes, throw it in the wash, and bye bye stains!

Second, the bleach pen offers endless crafty possibilities!  I decided to use it to make a one-of-a-kind tee for my Little Monster.

I first did some decorative stitching with embroidery floss around the collar.  I used the name floss color for the word "Little".

Next I placed some waxed paper in between the layers of my t-shirt.  This prevented the bleach from leaking through to the back of the shirt.

Then I used my bleach pen to draw my monster.  I allowed it to sit for about 10 minutes, and then rinsed it out in the sink with cold water.

The result is a completely original tee for The Bug!  My crafty friends got really into using the bleach pen that night too.

What a fun, quick, and simple way to create personalized outfits for back to school!

Refridgerator Pickles {Recipe}

It doesn't get much better than eating fresh veggies from the garden every evening.  This recipe is perfect for those garden cukes.  It's been handed down to us from Hillbillies family.

It's quick, easy, and requires very few ingredients.  Perfect!

Refridgerator Pickles:

2-3 thinly sliced cucumbers
1 thinly sliced onion
1/3 c. water
1/3 c. vinegar
2 T. sugar

Heat water, vinegar and sugar on low and stir just until sugar is just dissolved.  Pour the mixture over the cucumbers and onions and enjoy!

It tastes even better the 2nd day!  Gotta love leftovers!
